Renegade: The Vancouver Leather TitleHolders Association

What is Renegade?

Renegade: The Vancouver Leather TitleHolders Association was founded in the summer of 2003. Its primary mandate is to provide mentorship, education, and support for titleholders in the gay leather community. Its membership is comprised of current and past leather titleholders who currently reside in the Lower Mainland of BC. Renegade is currently in the process of registering as a non-profit society.

What are the Vancouver Leather titles?

The Vancouver Leather titles (Mr. & Ms. Vancouver Leather) are community based titles which were initiated in 2002 under the auspices of the ‘umbrella group’ Western Canada Leather Pride. Because they are community based, Vancouver leather titleholders are not motivated by profit or for commercial gain. Their primary function is to promote a sense of community and awareness within that section of the gay community defined by ‘leather.’ Renegade assumed the stewardship of the Mr. & Ms. Vancouver Leather titles in February of 2004 when Western Canada Leather Pride (WCLP) had completed its mandate in the community.

Renegade is committed to promoting the Vancouver Leather titles as gay leather community based and owned. In keeping with that commitment it is our intention to focus on building a base of community support for the title contests and for Vancouver titleholders’ efforts to work as positive and productive role models.

Renegade is also committed to ensuring that in years to come the Vancouver title competitions maintain and exceed the presentation WCLP accorded them. That new titleholders receive mentoring and support from our own community's nationally recognized titleholders is at the heart of Renegade's mandate.

Renegade is enthused about the future of the Vancouver Leather titles competitions and confident of its ability to develop the Vancouver titles in both a professional and a community-focused manner.
